What is SoundScan?
"Nielsen SoundScan is
an information system that tracks sales of music and music video products
throughout the United States and Canada. Sales data from point-of-sale
cash registers is collected weekly from over 14,000 retail, mass merchant
and non-traditional (on-line stores, venues, etc.) outlets. Weekly data
is compiled and made available every Wednesday. Nielsen SoundScan is the
sales source for the Billboard music charts." - Neilsen SoundScan
Live Venue Reporting
SoundScan also provides sales
reporting for all live events. This means that if you
sell an album at a show, it gets counted in the SoundScan sales numbers.
Why is this important?
SoundScan information is used
by EVERYONE in the industry, including every label to determine who's
hot and who's not. If you sell an album, even at a show - everyone will
know.
What do we do?
Deevel will get your music
listed in SoundScan, ensuring that you know where and when your songs
have been sold. We also make sure that any albums sold at a live venue
get tracked by SoundScan.
